New Work assemblage

These are a few images of some of the work I've been recently working on the past few months.........

I believe I'm done with them but after seeing them presented in a photograph I might still tweek a few of the pieces. Incorporated into a few of the assemblages are some elements of the collages I also enjoy working with. In all the work I use objects I find when I'm out and about town, for instance any metal with a neat patina, wood that has character that I find washed up on the beach to old picture frames and tools, glass, toys, boxes, photographs, paper, basically anything that I feel helps me to visually articulate my ideas. I also use acrylic paint, pens, clay, glue, gold leaf to help me add details.  Most of the pieces are from 12"to 24" tall.
The collages at the bottom of the page are like sketchbooks for me. Click on the image to view it in more detail.

Recent mixed media work from the hollow hills

This is some new work out of my Embers from the Abyss series. Small collages that I will eventually incorporate into a larger assemblage.

I'm also building a bunch of new assemblages here is a photo of the works in progress. I like having a few going at the same time because if a something doesn't work metaphorically or visually for one piece it could be incorporated into another.

Eternity Diptych

This is a new diptych I'm making. Diptychs and triptychs have been created by artists for centuries.
A diptych is any object with two flat plates attached at a hinge. Kind of like a book, religious diptychs were sometimes carried around by travelers and opened up to be venerated when they arrived at thier destination.
